Successful Transition = Successful Troops

 TO Image result

STx2 = Successful Transition = Successful Troops

Fall is the time to build bonds between Webelos Scouts and Troops to pave their way into Boy Scouts.   Troops should invite Webelos to outdoor activities that they have during the coming months.   Webelos leaders should contact a nearby Troop to get their activity schedule.   Activities can include hikes, orienteering events, cookouts, ski trips, or winter camping.  Please be sure that Webelos and their parents have proper gear for whatever event you invite them to.

Because each Troop has different “personality”, focus and meeting time, Webelos should be given the opportunity to visit several and decide which works best for them. Our goal is to give every Webelos an opportunity to become a Boy Scout.

YIS,

Tom Baltutis

BIG NEWS!
Charter Orgs will have the option to fully include girls in Cub Scouting as full members, able to earn rank, nationwide beginning Fall 2018!

Contact Andy Goke for details on additional flyering at schools this fall for your Pack.

Warning: Rechartering your unit will be blocked if leaders lack YPT!!!

DANGER!! IGNORE all payment totals automatically generated at recharter - must calculate by hand to account for our district's fee structure! [view Council's 30-slide ppt - Big Issues to be aware of!]

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING - MANDATORY

The BSA is concerned about the safety and welfare of all of our youth.  Therefore, it has adopted a new policy.  Youth Protection Training (YPT) is now MANDATORY for all registered Adult Leadersincluding Merit Badge Counselors.  This means that you CAN NOT register with BSA if you do not have current YPT training.  If your training is not current when your unit recharters, you will be dropped from the BSA and can no longer interact with youth.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  Lion and Tiger Parents are not considered registered Leaders, but YPT is highly recommended for them as well.

Training is available on-line at https://my.scouting.org.  If you do not have an account, you can set one up on the site.  Also, you do not have to be a registered Leader to set up a my.scouting account.

In the near future, the YPT program will be substantially changed to include more information on bullying, cyber-bullying and other topics which can seriously affect our children.

BALOO Training

BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) will soon be changing from a one-day to a two-day with an overnight camping program. Your last chance for the one-day course is at the University of Scouting on October 28.  Information at https://scoutingevent.com/250-UoSFall2017.

Each Cub Pack must have a BALOO trained Adult Leader on campouts.

A New Way - into the 21st century

Beginning August 1, 2017, we have a NEW on-line process to register for 2017

Confirmation will be provided to your Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, or Advisor when you complete the on-line process.  Attached are the details for what the registration package covers, and the same content is also pasted below.
