Successful Transition = Successful Troops

STx2 = Successful Transition = Successful Troops

Fall is the time to build bonds between Webelos Scouts and Troops to pave their way into Boy Scouts.   Troops should invite Webelos to outdoor activities that they have during the coming months.   Webelos leaders should contact a nearby Troop to get their activity schedule.   Activities can include hikes, orienteering events, cookouts, ski trips, or winter camping.  Please be sure that Webelos and their parents have proper gear for whatever event you invite them to.

Because each Troop has different “personality”, focus and meeting time, Webelos should be given the opportunity to visit several and decide which works best for them. Our goal is to give every Webelos an opportunity to become a Boy Scout.

YIS,

Tom Baltutis

Webelos to Scout Transition Chair

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING - MANDATORY

The BSA is concerned about the safety and welfare of all of our youth.  Therefore, it has adopted a new policy.  Youth Protection Training (YPT) is now MANDATORY for all registered Adult Leadersincluding Merit Badge Counselors.  This means that you CAN NOT register with BSA if you do not have current YPT training.  If your training is not current when your unit recharters, you will be dropped from the BSA and can no longer interact with youth.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  Lion and Tiger Parents are not considered registered Leaders, but YPT is highly recommended for them as well.

Training is available on-line at https://my.scouting.org.  If you do not have an account, you can set one up on the site.  Also, you do not have to be a registered Leader to set up a my.scouting account.

In the near future, the YPT program will be substantially changed to include more information on bullying, cyber-bullying and other topics which can seriously affect our children.
